Sending USD to Ukraine

What it actually costs, and which channel makes sense when paying people in UAH. Rate data from ECB · fees hand-verified as of 2026-07-15.

Who pays in UAH

Long-standing outsourcing market. Payments through Payoneer are the practical channel post-2022.

Common channels: Payoneer · Wise Business · Deel Contractor

Which channel makes sense

  • Contractors paid monthly under $25k: Wise Business or Airwallex. Fee difference vs bank wire >$100 per payment, and the recipient gets funds in 1-2 business days.
  • Full-time employees: Use an Employer of Record (Deel, Remote, or Rippling) if you don't have a local entity. Direct payment triggers tax and compliance obligations most SaaS teams shouldn't take on.
  • Occasional large payments ($50k+): Airwallex or a bank wire with negotiated FX. Wise Business has per-transfer caps in some corridors.
  • Recipient prefers USD: Check whether your provider supports local UAH accounts. Payoneer and Wise both let recipients receive and hold USD without immediate conversion.

Data sources and limits

  • Exchange rates: ECB reference rates via Frankfurter API. Updated daily, business days only.
  • Provider fees: hand-verified against Wise, Airwallex, Payoneer, PayPal, and public bank wire schedules. Last review 2026-07-15. Fees change; check the provider before large transfers.
  • This page does not include Wise's actual comparison quote (that API is partner-only). The received-amount numbers use published mid-market rates + published fee percentages — the same math each provider does internally, minus intraday micro-spreads.
