Payoneer vs Wise for marketplace sellers (2026): the integration is the product, the band is the cost

Official fee pages, not a score. Payoneer from payoneer.com/pricing (last updated 1 January 2026). Wise Business from our 2026-08-31 capture of wise.com/us/pricing/business.

These two get compared because they both show up in “get paid from Amazon / Upwork / a US marketplace” searches. They are not the same job. Payoneer is a receiving network that marketplaces already know how to pay. Wise Business is a conversion and local-rail payout account. If the marketplace will only push to Payoneer, Wise never sees the money. If you can take a local account in the payout currency, Payoneer’s 1.2%–4% withdrawal band is a tax you do not have to pay.

The comparison below costs the legs that are printed. It does not invent a marketplace receiving percentage. Payoneer’s own row for that leg is “varies by marketplace.” Third-party posts that put 1% on Amazon or Upwork are not this page’s source.

How to read the numbers

Payoneer figures are the public estimate on the pricing page dated 1 January 2026; the page itself says different territories, account types and onboarding channels can differ, and the fee inside a signed-in account is authoritative. Wise figures are the US business pricing page stored in our snapshot pipeline on 2026-08-31 (HTTP 200, sha16 4c1b4992ff2f7c93). Corridor quotes on our fintech pillar are from a 2026-07-31 live run and still show 0.29% / 0.57% / 0.42% on EUR / PHP / INR — that is a quote, not the current floor. See methodology.

Fee tables, as published

Leg Payoneer Wise Business
Setup / subscription No monthly fee on the public page. Annual account fee 29.95 USD if receipts < 6,000 USD in 12 months (not year one on paid annual plans) Register free. Hold free. 31 USD once for account details in 22 currencies
Marketplace / platform receive Varies by marketplace — not printed Not a marketplace payout rail. You receive into Wise account details instead
Local-currency receiving account Free Domestic non-Swift / non-wire: free in AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, HUF, NZD, PHP, SGD, USD
Receive in a non-local currency 1% (min 1.00 USD) USD wire / Swift: 6.11 USD fixed. GBP Swift 2.16 GBP. EUR Swift 2.39 EUR
Convert between balances 0.50% From 0.23%, varies by currency. Discount above 25,000 USD/month, schedule unpublished
Send / withdraw to a bank Same-country local currency: 1.50 USD (listed countries include USA, UK, EU, PH, SG, VN, KE, MX…). Other local-currency bank: 1.2%–4%, sometimes a min up to 20 USD. With conversion: 1.2%–4% Send from 0.23%, varies by currency
Card 29.95 USD/year. Same-currency spend up to 1.8% (free if merchant country = card country). FX spend up to 3.5% Spend in the same currency: free. ATM free to 250 USD/month, then 1.95 USD + 1.95% per pull

Two Payoneer footnotes that change a spreadsheet. First, certain US customers (depending on registration date) pay a flat 1.50 USD per withdrawal or payment up to 50,000 USD a month, then up to 0.5% — that is a different product from the 1.2%–4% band, and you only see it signed in. Second, sending to another Payoneer account is up to 4.00 USD/EUR/GBP same country, or up to 1% + up to 4.00 USD cross-border. If your contractors already live in Payoneer, that network effect is real; it is also how the expensive band stays in the stack.

A $10,000 month, costed on the printed legs

Seller in the Philippines, USD marketplace payouts, wants PHP in a local bank. Three shapes. Marketplace receiving is left as “unknown” in every Payoneer column because the public page will not let us fill it.

Shape 1 — Payoneer receives USD, withdraws to a PHP bank with conversion. Public band 1.2%–4% on the withdrawal. On 10,000 USD that is 120–400 USD. Add 0.50% if they convert inside Payoneer first (50 USD) and then try a same-country PHP withdrawal at 1.50 USD — except the conversion already happened, so you are choosing one of those two paths, not stacking them blindly. Annual account fee is 0 at this volume (well above 6,000 USD). Year-one drag on the printed legs: 1,440–4,800 USD if every month sits at the band, plus whatever the marketplace took before the money arrived.

Shape 2 — Wise receives USD locally, converts and sends PHP. USD domestic receive is free. Convert/send from 0.23% floor = 23 USD on 10,000, plus the 31 USD setup in month one. Year one: 23 × 12 + 31 = 307 USD. That 0.23% is a floor — “varies by currency.” Our 2026-07-31 PHP quote was 0.57% (57.25 USD on 10,000). Using that quote instead: 57.25 × 12 + 31 = 718 USD year one. Even the worse of those two Wise numbers is below Payoneer’s 1.2% floor.

Shape 3 — marketplace will only pay Payoneer, then you send to Wise. You cannot avoid Payoneer’s first mile. You can avoid converting inside it. Receive in USD (if “local” for that receiving account; otherwise 1%), then send USD to a Wise USD account if that route exists for your account type — Payoneer prices same-country bank USD at 1.50 USD for listed countries, and cross-currency bank at 1.2%–4%. We will not pretend we have a signed-in quote for “Payoneer USD balance → Wise USD details.” If the only published path is the 1.2%–4% band, that is the cost of the integration.

India is the same structure with a different corridor quote. Wise’s 2026-07-31 INR send on 10,000 USD was 0.42% (42.39 USD). Payoneer’s band is still 1.2%–4% for a converted bank withdrawal. Nigeria, Kenya and Vietnam sit in Payoneer’s 1.50 USD same-country list for local-currency withdrawals — useful only if the money is already in that local currency. USD in, NGN/KES/VND out, is the conversion band again.

Residence is a different gate than fees

Wise’s pricing page is not an eligibility page. Who can open the account is a KYC decision, and we are not going to scrape a country list we did not fetch today. Payoneer lists 190+ countries and 70+ currencies on the same pricing page; that is coverage marketing, not a guarantee you personally onboard. The practical test for a marketplace seller is the one the marketplace already ran: does the payout screen offer Payoneer, a local bank, or both? If it is Payoneer-only, fee comparison is downstream of a locked rail.

Ukraine is the corridor our fintech pillar already flagged as a Payoneer-shaped market. The 1.2%–4% band is ugly next to Wise’s floor and still the reason Payoneer stays in the table: some recipients and some platforms will not take a Wise account. Price that into the rate you charge, the same way you price PayPal Payouts at 4.19% on our pillar page rather than pretending people will switch rails for 80 basis points.

What a SaaS team should actually do

This page is titled for marketplace sellers because that is the query. The operating-stack version is a contractor or agency collecting US platform payouts while the company itself sits on Wise or Airwallex.

  • The platform offers a local receiving account in the payout currency. Take it. Convert on Wise Business. 31 USD once, then the corridor percentage. Do not add Payoneer as a second hop.
  • The platform only pays Payoneer. Open Payoneer, withdraw on the cheapest printed path you can see signed in, and stop converting between Payoneer balances for fun (0.50% each time). If monthly volume is above 25,000 USD and you can get the money to Wise, ask Wise for the unpublished volume discount — the page promises it without printing it.
  • You are paying marketplace sellers, not collecting as one. Wise mass payouts from a USD balance, corridor by corridor. Pay contractors who insist on Payoneer through Payoneer and put the band in the rate. Same rule as PayPal on the pillar page.

Airwallex is the third option when you collect in several currencies and want cards. It is not this comparison. We costed it against Wise on Wise Business vs Airwallex.

Frequently asked

Is Payoneer or Wise cheaper for a marketplace seller taking USD?

On printed conversion and withdrawal lines, Wise. Payoneer’s 1.2%–4% bank-withdrawal band sits above Wise’s 0.23% floor and above our 2026-07-31 PHP/INR quotes. The first mile — marketplace receiving — is unpublished on Payoneer’s public page.

What does Payoneer charge to receive marketplace payouts?

Varies by marketplace. Local receiving accounts are free; non-local currency receiving is 1% (min 1.00 USD). Do not use a blog’s 1% Amazon/Upwork figure as if it were this page.

When is Payoneer still the right rail?

When the marketplace or the payee will not use anything else, or when Wise cannot deliver locally in that country. Coverage, not the percentage.

Did Wise cut fees since the pillar page?

The US business page now prints “from 0.23%” for send and convert (snapshot 2026-08-31). The pillar’s 0.29%/0.57%/0.42% numbers are live quotes from 2026-07-31. Both can be true. Quote your corridor.

Monthly fees?

Wise: none, 31 USD once. Payoneer: 29.95 USD a year if you receive under 6,000 USD in 12 months; card 29.95 USD a year on top.
